Artists: Submit Your Art
Have Your Art Selected. Choose Two Minnaars in Exchange.
Your art deserves to be seen, collected, and enjoyed. Why not give it the opportunity to travel from one collection to another?
Artist and collector Steven Minnaar invites fellow artists, photographers, musicians, poets, writers, filmmakers, video creators, and other creative individuals to submit their work for consideration in the Minnaar Catalogue, a growing collection of art created to be collected, gifted, saved, and traded.
Through his own artistic selection and designation, Steven brings original creations and selected works by other artists together as Minnaar Money — Art You Can Trade.
Each selected and registered work becomes part of an ongoing artistic experiment in collecting, value, and voluntary exchange, while retaining the identity and authorship of its original creator.
Have your art selected—and receive Minnaar Money in exchange.
For each accepted artwork you choose to exchange, you provide the physical work plus one troy ounce of silver. In return, you choose any two available 1 SV artworks from the Minnaar Catalogue—including works created by Steven Minnaar and works contributed by other Guest Artists.
You may choose two works by Steven, two Guest Artist Selections, or one of each. Your contribution becomes a registered Minnaar, while you become the owner of two other works of art you can collect, gift, save, or trade.
Guest Artist Selections
Artists are invited to submit up to three works at a time, as often as they wish, for consideration in the Minnaar Catalogue.
Submission is free.
Steven personally selects works according to his own artistic standards, choosing only those he would be proud to have created himself.
He may select one, several, or none of the works submitted. There is no limit to how many works by an individual artist may ultimately be accepted.
Artwork Requirements
Submissions are limited to unframed original works or signed limited editions on paper, card stock, or canvas panel, measuring no more than 11 × 14 inches.
Stretched canvases are not accepted.
Eligible works may include:
- Drawings and Paintings: Original works on paper or canvas panel.
- Original Prints: Linocuts, woodcuts, etchings, and other original printmaking techniques on paper.
- Photography: Original photographic prints and signed, limited-edition photographic works on paper.
- Mixed Media: Original works using paper or canvas panel as the supporting surface.
- Artcards: Original or signed limited-edition miniature artworks measuring 2.5 × 3.5 inches, combining visual art with original music, poetry, storytelling, or video. Eligible formats include Musical Artcards, Poetry Artcards, Story Artcards, and Video Artcards. Associated creative works may appear directly on the card, where appropriate, or be accessible through a QR code or web link.
All accepted works must be delivered in a clear, protective sleeve suitable for their size and format.
These requirements help keep the growing Minnaar Treasury practical to handle, protect, store, and exchange.
Artcards — Music, Poetry, Stories & Video
Artcards bring original visual art together with music, poetry, storytelling, and video in a collectible 2.5 × 3.5-inch format.
Each physical card is an artwork in its own right and may connect the collector to a larger creative experience through a QR code or web link.
Four Artcard formats are welcome:
Musical Artcards — Art You Can Hear
Miniature visual artworks combining original art with access to original music. A card might represent a song, instrumental composition, EP, or complete album.
Poetry Artcards — Poetry You Can Hold
Miniature artworks combining original poetry and visual expression. A card may contain a complete poem or link to longer written poetry, collections, or spoken-word performances.
Story Artcards — Stories You Can Hold
Miniature artworks representing original short stories, novellas, and novels. Cards may connect collectors to complete written works, audiobooks, or author-narrated recordings.
Video Artcards — Art You Can Watch
Miniature visual artworks combining original art with access to an original video creation. A card might represent a short film, documentary, animation, music video, recorded performance, experimental video artwork, or another original moving-image creation.
An Open Artistic Format
Anyone may independently create, collect, sell, gift, and trade Artcards.
Only physical Artcards personally selected and registered in the Minnaar Catalogue become Minnaar Money, with an assigned Sovereign Value of 1 SV and the established exchange privileges.
For Minnaar Money consideration, Artcards must measure exactly 2.5 × 3.5 inches, be physical artworks on paper or card stock, and be originals or signed limited editions.
Collaborate Across Art Forms
Musicians, poets, writers, filmmakers, animators, performers, illustrators, painters, photographers, and other visual artists are invited to collaborate.
A musician might commission a painter to illustrate a Musical Artcard. A poet might work with a photographer. A novelist might collaborate with an illustrator to create collectible artwork representing a literary work. A filmmaker might commission an artist to create a Video Artcard for an original film or documentary.
Find collaborators through the free Minnaar Trading Post or our weekly Minnaar Money Meetups.
Collaborating creators arrange their own compensation, attribution, copyright permissions, and rights to accompanying creative works.
Where applicable, participating creators receive credit on the physical Artcard and in its Catalogue listing.
Different art forms. Shared creativity. One collectible work of art.
How Selection Works
1. Submit Your Artwork
Submit photographs or previews of up to three eligible works for Steven's consideration.
There is no submission fee. You may submit as often as you wish.
2. Artistic Selection
Steven personally reviews submissions and may select any number of works according to his own artistic standards.
Selection is entirely at his discretion. There is no limit to the number of works by an individual artist that may ultimately be accepted.
3. Exchange Your Accepted Artwork
For each selected work you choose to exchange, you provide:
- The original physical artwork, presented in a clear protective sleeve.
- One troy ounce of .999 fine silver.
The artwork and silver are required only after selection, if you choose to proceed.
Please do not send physical artwork or silver until your selection has been confirmed and delivery arrangements have been made.
Where to Get Silver: One-ounce silver rounds or other acceptable bullion may be purchased from local coin shops or bullion dealers. Search "bullion dealer near me" to find one nearby.
4. Choose Your Two Minnaars
In exchange for your accepted artwork and one troy ounce of silver, you may select any two distinct, available 1 SV Minnaar Money artworks from the Catalogue.
Your choices are entirely yours. Both artworks may be creations by Steven Minnaar, both may be works by other Guest Artists, or you may choose one of each.
Available selections may include original drawings, paintings, prints, photography, Musical Artcards, Poetry Artcards, Story Artcards, Video Artcards, and other registered 1 SV Minnaars.
Browse the Catalogue and identify the two artworks you would like to receive.
Both selections are subject to availability when exchange arrangements are confirmed.
The two artworks become yours to keep, collect, gift, or trade.
5. Catalogue Registration and Exchange
Upon receipt and completion of the exchange, your contributed artwork is designated and registered as Minnaar Money.
Each registered selection receives:
- Permanent Catalogue Recognition: A lasting record identifying the artwork, its title, medium, original creator, and other relevant details, including a link to the artist's website.
- Digital Certificate of Authenticity: Documentation identifying the physical artwork, its authorship, and its Minnaar Money registration.
- Sovereign Value of 1 SV: An assigned exchange value within the Minnaar Money system.
- Lasting Exchange Privileges: Eligibility for exchange alongside other registered Minnaars, subject to the established Catalogue rules.
You receive your two selected 1 SV Minnaar Money artworks, each accompanied by its own digital Certificate of Authenticity.
All three artworks retain their permanent Catalogue records, and the exchange is documented.
For limited editions, each accepted physical impression or copy is individually registered. Other copies of the same edition do not automatically become Minnaar Money.
Your contributed artwork enters the Minnaar Treasury. Your two chosen Minnaars enter your collection. All three remain art you can trade.
Submit Often. Build Your Presence.
There is no limit to how often you may submit artwork or how many of your works may be accepted.
Submit three works today, another three next week, or as often as you wish.
Each accepted work you exchange becomes a permanent part of the Minnaar Catalogue. With every completed exchange, you also acquire two available 1 SV Minnaar Money artworks of your choice.
Your contribution might later be selected by another participating artist, while the two Minnaars you receive may find their way into entirely different collections.
Over time, you may build a growing body of selected works within Minnaar Money, each credited to you and linked to your website.
The more works you have accepted, the more opportunities collectors have to discover your art.
Art That Keeps Circulating
Unlike a conventional art sale, where a work may disappear into a private collection, a registered Minnaar remains part of the permanent Catalogue even as it changes hands.
Collectors may exchange eligible Minnaars for other available works of equal total Sovereign Value or combine several works toward something greater.
A painting might be exchanged for a photograph. Several original prints might be combined toward a larger work. A Musical, Poetry, Story, or Video Artcard might find its way into an entirely different collection.
Guest Artists participate in this circulation from the very beginning. Each accepted exchange brings a new artwork into the Treasury while placing two registered Minnaars into an artist's hands. An artwork contributed by one Guest Artist may even become one of the two works selected by another.
Your creations can find new collectors, develop their own histories, and continue their journey through the Minnaar Money community.
Their original authorship remains intact, while their Minnaar Money designation and registration provide an additional artistic identity and exchange privileges.

- Photographs or preview links for up to three artworks.
- Each work's title, medium, and dimensions.

Trade Your Other Art Independently
You don't have to be selected for Minnaar Money to begin trading your art.
Create your own art money, document your original works and limited editions with digital Certificates of Authenticity, and offer your creations for trade at values you choose.
The Minnaar Trading Post is free and open to everyone, whether or not their work is represented in the Minnaar Catalogue.

Upon completion of an exchange, the contributed physical artwork becomes property of the Minnaar Treasury, and the two selected existing 1 SV artworks become property of the contributing artist. All three artworks retain their permanent Catalogue records and applicable exchange privileges.
Original creators retain their authorship and copyright, grant permission for their accepted works to be displayed and promoted, and remain responsible for obtaining necessary rights and permissions for submitted material.
Catalogue exchange privileges apply to the individually registered physical artwork, require a valid Certificate of Authenticity, and are subject to the Catalogue's exchange rules and availability of works.
Sovereign Value is an artistic exchange designation, not a guarantee of cash market value or redemption in cash or silver.
