The Minnaar Treasure (2021)
A Historical Art Project (2021)
The Minnaar Treasure was an experimental art project I created in 2021, before the Minnaar Treasury took its present form.
Because the project continues to be discussed online, I want this page to serve as its official historical record.
As part of the project, I used a computer script that randomly selected twenty-four Bitcoin seed words and arranged them in an undisclosed order to generate a Bitcoin wallet.
The script revealed the twenty-four words and the resulting public Bitcoin address, but it did not reveal the order of the words or the private key.
As a result, I know the twenty-four words, but I do not know their correct order, do not possess the private key, and cannot access the wallet.
The public Bitcoin address is:
1LJUoadJQnEPf6G8u76KFesWJs1MA4S1hA
Over time, members of the public voluntarily contributed bitcoin to that address. The wallet remains publicly visible on the blockchain.
The twenty-four unique seed words remain distributed across artworks created as part of the original project. The challenge of discovering their correct order therefore remains open.
A Chapter in My Artistic Journey
The Minnaar Treasure explored ideas of curiosity, collecting, collaboration, and the relationship between physical art and digital scarcity.
While it remains part of my artistic history, it is no longer the focus of my work.
Today my attention is devoted to the Minnaar Treasury—an artistic institution dedicated to honoring the Sovereign Individual through original works of art.
The artworks of the Minnaar Treasury are intended to stand on their own, independent of the earlier treasure project.
Looking Forward
The Minnaar Treasure remains a documented part of my artistic journey.
The Minnaar Treasury represents where that journey continues.
If you would like to explore my current work, I invite you to begin with the Minnaar Treasury.
